The functionality of this option changes depending one whether or not you are working in the editor.
If you are working in the editor, or press the copy button on the editor toolbar, this option copies the currently selected text to the clipboard.
Otherwise it it copies the entire selected item back to the clipboard to allow you to paste it into another application. It is also possible to make the double click action of the details pane copy the clip to the clipboard. Recent clips can also be copied from the system tray menu. With MagicPaste enabled the copied clip will be pasted automatically into the last application active.
